LOG-IN CZ secures high-value cargo with SBS OptiLock for over 10 years
Customer case
LOG-IN CZ
For logistics providers transporting high-value cargo, security is not optional. Czech transport specialist LOG-IN CZ has built its reputation on delivering sensitive and high-value shipments safely across Europe.
To protect its fleet and meet the strict security requirements of international customers, the company has relied on SBS OptiLock electronic trailer locks for almost a decade. Today, all 177 trailers in the LOG-IN CZ fleet are equipped with SBS OptiLock systems.
Growing demand for higher security standards
LOG-IN CZ started looking for a new trailer security solution around 2014. At the time, the company was using trailers with pneumatic locking systems, which required significant maintenance and no longer matched the increasingly strict security requirements of customers transporting high-value goods.
“Customer security requirements became more demanding. We needed enclosed box trailers with electronic locking and reliable remote control capabilities,” explains Patrick Freitag, Head of Sales & Security at LOG-IN CZ.
After evaluating the available options, LOG-IN CZ chose the electronic locking solution that is now known as SBS OptiLock. The first new 105 trailers were equipped with the system in 2016 and 2017. Many of these requirements are based on TAPA standards, which serve as the foundation for secure transport operations. For customers transporting high-value cargo, additional security measures are often required on top of these industry standards.
Security as part of a complete process
For LOG-IN CZ, an electronic lock is only one element of a broader security concept. Every truck and trailer is connected to GPS tracking and monitored 24/7 through a dedicated security control centre. Opening and closing of trailers is centrally controlled and only authorised after verification of the vehicle location.TAPA compliance is only the starting point for the company. While TAPA specifies requirements such as electronic locking, tracking and alarms, the company combines these measures with 24/7 monitoring, geo-fenced routes and additional security measures required by customers transporting high-value cargo.
According to Patrick Freitag, this combination of technology, monitoring and procedures provides the level of security required for high-value cargo transport. “It must all be connected. You need the security devices on the truck and trailer, but also people who operate them and monitor them. Installing a lock is only the first step.” The system is used not only for high-value cargo but on all loaded trailers. This creates a consistent security process across the entire fleet.
Proven reliability over a decade
Nearly ten years after the first installation, LOG-IN CZ remains convinced of its choice. The company currently operates 140 trucks and 177 trailers, all fitted with SBS OptiLock systems.
Despite handling around 1,500 shipments every month and facing between 15 and 20 minor attempted attacks on trailers each year, the company has not experienced any cargo loss since introducing the electronic locking solution.

Ready for the future
While the transport industry is preparing for developments such as electric and autonomous trucks, LOG-IN CZ believes the fundamentals of cargo security remain unchanged: reliable hardware, effective monitoring and clear operational procedures. At the same time, Patrick Freitag expects future innovations to focus on smarter security processes. As autonomous transport becomes more common, access to trailers will increasingly rely on digital authorisation and identity verification rather than a driver being present.
LOG-IN CZ is also exploring technologies that can detect suspicious behaviour before an actual intrusion takes place. “Today we detect a real attack when somebody cuts into the trailer. In the future, the challenge is to recognise suspicious behaviour before the attack actually happens.”
For now, however, the combination of SBS OptiLock, GPS tracking and 24/7 monitoring continues to provide the level of security LOG-IN CZ requires for its high-value cargo operations.About LOG-IN CZ
