The high-quality in-vehicle solutions from Sortimo
Customer case
Sortimo in-vehicle equipment
Sortimo is a company that has been in the business of assembling high-quality in-vehicle equipment since 1973. And has thus been around for more than 50 years! Sortimo's goal is to constantly develop smart products and services that add value and make the van driver's daily work easier. And let that be our goal too. We asked Tim van Oers, former process & quality manager at Sortimo about our cooperation and the benefits of our Gatelock and the Easy Aero roof fan.
Cooperation Imbema & Sortimo
‘We came into contact with Imbema through a customer's need for your Gatelock lock. The Gatelock is a high-quality lock that fits Sortimo's high-quality in-vehicle equipment. From there, the first locks were delivered and we took the cooperation to the next level. That you become more of a partner of each other instead of supplier and customer, so you can solve things together.’ says Tim.
Advantages Imbema
Gatelock van lock
The Gatelock van lock has proven itself enough by now. The lock really is an extra service to the end customer. We have already secured many vans against burglary with this high-quality lock. An important customer of ours in the Eindhoven region recently experienced a wave of burglaries, where many of his vans were broken into and tools stolen. All its buses have since been fitted with a Gatelock lock and the wave of burglaries has subsided. You can't have a clearer proof right?’
Easy Aero roof ventilator
The Easy Aero roof ventilator is a very easy innovative solution, especially with all the electric vans on the way. Normally, when properly ventilating a van, you need a floor vent and a roof vent. The Easy Aero roof vent combines this, so you only need to mount it on the roof and not drill a hole in the floor. So it's less labour intensive. And because you only need to drill 1 spot, the chance of mistakes is reduced by half. Besides, you'd rather not drill into the floor of an electric bus, because that's where the battery pack sits and all the electricity runs from the car.’
‘Because you no longer need a floor vent with the Easy Aero, more and more customers are also asking for this solution. You then have more space available in your van to set something up.’
Suitable solution
‘In our showroom, the Easy Aero and the Gatelock are also present. Here we can show customers the benefits of these products. But the most important thing is that we first get a good idea of what the customer actually wants. What are their activities and what does their work process in the van look like. For a customer in the centre of Amsterdam, you have different challenges from someone outside the city. If we have a clear picture of that, we can really think along with the customer and offer a suitable solution. Whether that's an Imbema solution or someone else's. In the end, the most important thing is that the customer is 100% satisfied.’
Key developments in van market
‘The most important development in the market, is that from 2025, we will have the BPM levy on vans. This will make vans considerably more expensive. This presents challenges, but also opportunities for the current year. Vans will be shifted around. We need to make sure that we have the vehicles ready on time and can avoid the BPM levy.’
‘And in addition, electric vans are a challenge. The market is in full swing, but we don't really know exactly what it will do. That creates a lot of questions and many companies are in limbo.’
‘Then, of course, you have the CO2 reduction and the emission-free zones being created in cities. How is that going to develop? Van country is in turmoil. But this also offers opportunities again, which we need to act on. Always look beyond our nose and make sure our knowledge is up to date, so that we can continue to serve our customers optimally in the future.’
