The SR 580, together with the battery-powered fan SR 500, SR 500 EX, or SR 700 and approved filters, is included in Sundström's fan-assisted respiratory protection systems. The breathing tube of the helmet with visor must be connected to the fan, which is equipped with filters. The pressure created in the visor prevents particles and other contaminants from entering the breathing zone. The SR 580 can also be used with the SR 507 compressed air equipment. This combination forms a breathing apparatus designed to provide a continuous flow of air and can be connected to a compressed air supply. See the separate SR 507 product brochure. The equipment can be used as an alternative to filter masks in all situations where filter masks are required. This is especially true for heavy, hot, or prolonged work.
