Mechanical Filter Material Is Significantly Less Sensitive to Factors Than Electrostatic
For fine dust filters, the type of filter material used determines the lifespan. Is it mechanical or electrostatic? Their properties are completely different. Mechanical filter material is significantly less sensitive to factors such as humidity, ambient temperature, and age. For both types, besides efficiency, you need to consider the fine dust concentration. The airflow rate through the mask’s filter material also has a major impact on filter efficiency, especially for electrostatic filters. An electrostatic filter becomes less efficient as it becomes saturated with fine dust, whereas a mechanical filter actually becomes more efficient as it saturates.
There Are Many Misconceptions About Carbon Filters
Even more factors influence carbon filters, such as the boiling point of the gas or vapor and the combinations of different gases and/or vapors. There are many misconceptions about the lifespan of carbon filters. Some suppliers claim a specific lifespan without thorough on-site measurements.
